Trainz Cycle!!

Hi Albert,

It's so true in that spending a year with trainz is boring, etc ... I mean, contents beigin to look the same, etc ... and layouts become repetitive --- It was last summer when I stopped all trainz activities, etc ..

I just installed Photoshop, 3dmax, T12, and got a lifetime ticket, etc -- I was working on Marz contents and rolling stocks, etc with Paulo, when I lost my mojo, lol --- Will continue with that project and continue building on my desert layout as well!!!

Funny thing about the Desert layout that it has been with me since 2006, etc ... it's 80% complete -- one day I"ll finish, and send it off to Manuel, which I feel will have a great time testing it for me, and this test might take him a year, etc since the layout is very detail, in terms of signals, and junctions, not much scenery for the so purpose of minimizingng frame rate issues!

Take care, Gentles

Any folder with the same name and structure as the previous one. Maybe uncle Max :list: will be asking you before loading the model for finding the path in an introductory window. Just find it and next time uncle Max won't ask you again. He is not very talkative. :hihi:

Hope it helps.

Marsz Base Contents available at the DLS!
« Respuesta #1172 en: Mayo 03, 2012, 16:13:36 »
Hello Everyone,

Marsz base contents available at the DLS -- 60 new items and counting as I will upload each and every single day as I finish a piece of item!

To view the contents head to the DLS, type MARSZ, unclick all selections except for Trainz Classic Series 3 (version 2.8) and then press search to view all items and their screenshots!

NOTE - You MUST download all of Arraial's Marsz contents! He's the originalitor of bringing Marzs to trainz -- I simply expanded on his ideas! A SPECIAL thank you to Paulo for creating such great contents, which allowed me to expand on it! To VIEW Arraial contents just type Marsz and click search, and you will see all of his contents as well as my own!

Well, enjoy, and let your imagination go crazy!!!

Some of the contents from Paulo (arraial) will be available at the IBTZ site very soon. We are closing a deal on this. Paulo is a very kind and helpful trainzy friend of mine, Ishie.

:wink: Our thought about the neglecting policies on the NeverFailing DLS hasn't even changed a bit, dear friend.

No, I mean, say, Neverfailers mean that since the inception of their  policies and their takeover of Auran you can't upload anything for older versions of Trainz. Of course, legacy old items still exist on the DLS.

None of our IBTZ Trainz multiversion recent assets  could be uploaded ( -of course, we don't mind or wish at all!- :devil: ).

Yes, dear Ishie, we all knew about that life cycle over here. But that's what we don't agree with. That's the arguing point, we are not a trading company and don't share that point of trading cycling. T4 and T6 are not dead for us as long as Windows XP/Vista keeps going on, glory, glory allelujah :hihi: .

What was the point of not allowing T4/T6 being uploaded onto the DLS.? Selling more T10/T12s? That's not our business over here, Ishie. We 'sell' free excitement and fun, and 'sell' it gratis et amore.

Take care and keep coming, dear Ishie.

Yeah, I know how deep are your feelings about it all -- it's kind of stupid on Auran's part -- I use to have my contents build number for the early versions so all can benefit, now that I was using 2.7, over a thousand with that build, I must now switch to 2.8! I have nearly 2000 items if you can beleive that on an external HD -- besides adding the screenshot, I must now change the build number too; So now people with T04 and T06 can't never enjoy these items unless they buy the current versions!

It's sad, I agree, totally!

Hello Ishie, when you say Stiched, you mean the new way to do LOD's in splines?

If it is, all of ours splines catenary in http://www.lunman3d.es use this spline implementation, we use the track-lod-tree option for the catenary and all the spline objects for Trainz.

Ishie is that? :nose:

Hi Manuel,

Thank you for the info, but yet, what I am asking is how do you do this in 3dmax?

For example, I made a wall with concrete dividers IN 3DMAX, but the two pieces seperate in surveyor when i curve them .... I must then stitch them together in 3dmax so when I stretch out the spline and then curve it the two pieces are one piece!

Ishie

Hello Ishie.

I try to explain you the way to do :wink:

It's easy, only need a pseudo-lineal reduction of polys based on the default mesh (the principal mesh)

You know, into an object spline AVE Catenary Out SA 20m - TS2009-10 from Juan creator (lu_nabuny) with 5 LOD's with config.

3th. lod - lod3.im with 448 polygons

and the 4th. lod - lod4.im with only 22 polygons

And now look for the track container and especially into the track-lod-tree container the label coordinate-transformation

This is the label that you need for non-separation spline into surveyor, see that here

http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Track_Part_Container

coordinate-transformation

The coordinate-transformation setting determines how vertices from the model are mapped into the world. The following techniques are available:

    "spline" (default) - this option gives you the default, fit-to-spline behavior.
    "linear" - this option gives you a simple linear scaling. This will not attempt to shear the ends of the mesh to fit the neighbors.
    "shear" - this option gives you a simple linear scaling. This will 'shear' (linear stretch) the ends of the mesh to fit the neighbors

The lod-distance label is important too, but in this case is more for testing distances until you find the correct one for each of lod in yours objects.

And for build track-lod-tree here -> http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/%22track-lod-tree%22_container

and, of course, -> http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php5/Stitched_track

I don't know if the above is usable for you, I hope that.

If you need more information, tell me.

Best Regards

Manuel

A Discussion of Spline configuration in Trainz (Teacher Manuel)!
« Respuesta #1191 en: Mayo 08, 2012, 18:03:44 »
Hi guyz,

I have had issues with the new ways of how trainz do spline these days, etc ... I knew a way back when it was first introduce but never really impleneted until now! Manuel has been educating me on these  techniques -- i will post the e-mails so anyone wanted to learn just can easily read his instructions!

==================================================================================

Hello Ishie.

First of all, your wall don't need lods, because it has few polys, normally the lod system into a spline object is for a high polys default mesh, but don't worry, the marsz spline can be done with the new system, only need that the trainz-build has 2.9, don't work less than this build.

I send you a couple of screenshots with the new configuration with the same mesh, I don't make any modification into the max file, is the same .im file but with TS2009 config.txt.

See that.

    height                              180
  }
}

The table of meshes,

All of meshes are the same, in your case, the "default" is the mesh base and the "lod1" is the second lod, (the same) if you want a real second lod you need to build a plane object with the image of the wall and one alpha channel.

Remenber, the last lod, always be the same object but into a plane with one alpha channel, the wall don't need one mesh only with an alpha channel because is the same mesh

}

The "track" container.
Is really the object representation into the surveyor and the more important label is coordinate-transformation.
If you put into this label the other values, like I say you in the Ibertrainz post, don't work well.

If you have more meshes based on the principal mesh "default", the track-lod-tree container will be longer and we'll need use distances of representation into the above container.

======================================================================================

And for your question, the first, yes, the case that you say, if you have 3 meshes the mesh table will be.

mesh-table
{
  default
  {
    mesh                                "Marsz-I Blast Wall 60m v1 Spline.im"
    auto-create                         1
  }

  lod1
  {
    mesh                                "Marsz-I Blast Wall 60m v1 Spline lod 1.im"
    auto-create                         1
  }

 lod2
  {
    mesh                                "Marsz-I Blast Wall 60m v1 Spline lod 2.im"
    auto-create                         1
  }

}

And the track container

track
{
  mesh-length                           60
  adjust-cross-section-to-ground        0
  coordinate-transformation             "shear"

  track-lod-tree
  {
   lod-distance                  200
   subdivisions                  1

    high-detail
    {
          lod-distance                  100
          subdivisions                  1
          high-detail
          {
            mesh                        "default"
          }

          low-detail
          {
            mesh                        "lod1"
          }
    }

    low-detail
    {
      mesh                              "lod2"
    }
  }
}

We must to play with lod-distance label and into the first high-detail container make a subdivision for the first 2 lods (including default mesh) with high-detail container and low-detail container again and the second low-detail container for the last lod.

And the other question, yes, you need a base mesh "default" with high level of detail and itself name, the second lod, not the same name, you can named lod1.im, but less level of detail (see, is the same object created in max, but with less polygons), the third lod with other name, lod2.im for example, and less polygons than the second, and more, and more, and more, until 8 levels of details if the object need.

You don't need to thank me.

Best regards.

See you in IBTZ forum.

Manuel

Hi everyone, been a while since I posted here but I hope everyone is doing well.

That is a very interesting email from Manuel Ish and many thanks for posting it.

As I am not a creator I am really guessing about something here.  When Auran/N3V change the rules again and that no content below 2.9 is acceptable (currently TS12 only accepts content with a build of 2.7) then would any spline type object, tracks, walls/fences, foliage etc need to be created or have a config file similar to the one explained by Manuel.

By this I mean, a track originally made for 2004 with 1 mesh file maybe able to be converted to build 2.9.  Using the example of Manuel the Config File would contain something like this (with maybe some changes to the values);

mesh-table
{
  default
  {
    mesh                                "Marsz-I Blast Wall 60m v1 Spline.im"
    auto-create                         1
  }

  lod1
  {
    mesh                                "Marsz-I Blast Wall 60m v1 Spline.im"
    auto-create                         1
  }
}

track
{
  mesh-length                           60
  adjust-cross-section-to-ground        0
  coordinate-transformation             "shear"

  track-lod-tree
  {
    high-detail
    {
      mesh                              "dafault"
    }

    low-detail
    {
      mesh                              "lod1"
    }
  }
}

I am not really at the point now of worrying about what needs to be converted for the next trainz-build up requirements, more curious as I thought there would be more involved in this conversion to a "stitch mesh system" then above.  As I said though I am not a creator  :lol:

All very interesting reading though,

Many Thanks,

Craig

Hello Craig :adios:

About your question.

Really, when a spline object only have one mesh you don't need to convert the config.txt to 2.9 version, but if you want use the new Auran's system, only follow the config.txt example, you only need chage the mesh name into the mesh-table and the standar labels.

Standard config.txt for the new spline object system (splines, tracks, fences, etc.)

Many thanks Manuel,

I just never thought it was as easy as that to convert old "spline" content to 2.9 build requirements.  As I mentioned, TS12 requires all content (except built-in) to be build 2.7 or higher.  It may be that TS14 (whatever) will require the build to be 2.9.

The only reason I can really see myself moving on to each new version is for the improved performance of some parts of the program.  Many of the older content though is well worth using while some are no longer suitable such as the old trees.

At the moment I am transferring my content to TS12, even though I have had it since it first came out, but I do not think I will get much use out of TS12.  If there is a next version it will be the one I eventually use more and 2010 will slowly die like the other previous versions of mine.

Many thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

Craig

But, my dear Craig, that's not quite exact... :wink: Chunky meshes are still digested by ridiculously starving T12.

I haven't changed a single <, { or figure on my latest tracks [nor will be doing that] and T12 swallows them, as it should be...  I haven't even changed the trainz-build, to hell with yellow warnings! :hihi: They are just NeverFailing commercial warnings. No performance gain was obtained if changed higher. :wink:

Lack of alpha blending is a silly nightmare -and all of the "modeln" tracks suffer from it too, whatever stichy or swingy or stingy or chewy or godly system they could use :hihi: [check all of them: magnificent Russian, Chinese, Antarctican or Martian ones]  - but I can live with that and keep using T10 which by far is much more flexible than the elitist T12, not of my complete liking. Yes, I can be labelled as an "old hand"... :hihi: I can put up with that. :wink:

The same track on more flexible T10... quite an edging difference! :wink:

Of course, I deeply respect those who want to go the "more modern not always the better" way.  :wink: But I don't agree with "changing for the sake of changing". Relative LOD performance isn't the core of the core of Trainz.

IBTZ creations will remain T4-T12-... as long as it could be possible... and WXP and Vista still work in computers. And if we have to create double versions, we'll go that way. :wink: :hihi: We intend to last longer than the last and latest version of Trainz, as some MSTSers do. :wink:

Glad to read you over here, dear Craig.

HI Alberte,

I have visited a few times in the past months but not post, it's always great to see what is happening over in IberTrainz Land.

That is quite a difference in the tracks and one I have not seen yet.  As I said, at the moment all I am doing is transferring content over to TS12 while still working in 2010.  The content transferred to TS12 has been corrected as much as I can but I am sure I have missed a few things and some I just can not correct so sadly they are deleted.  The deleted content is still in 2010 in case anyone comes up with an answer so not all is lost.

Many thanks again to you and Manuel.
